Fonon Technologies Presented BTS Additive Manufacturing Concept at TechConnect OELS 2025

ORLANDO, FL / September 30, 2025 / Fonon Technologies, a provider of state-of-the-art laser technologies for material processing and defense infrastructures, last week presented the concept of its additive manufacturing technology at the TechConnect Operational Energy & Logistics Symposium (OELS) in Honolulu, HI.

Fonon Technologies was accepted to pitch their Bulk-to-Shape™ (BTS) Transformation Technology concept at the conference in support of addressing national priorities in the Additive Manufacturing focus area. BTS is the result of proprietary intellectual property with the latest developments in 3D metal printing, reinforced by a family of patents from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. This technology is developed to cut downtime and reduce costs by effectively reproducing the needed components out of recycled raw material. First breaking down the material into a consistent powder, a BTS-powered system then 3D-prints the component at precise specifications, achieving tight tolerances.

The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS) recently highlighted the role of additive manufacturing in strengthening maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) for high-value defense assets. “Additive manufacturing has the potential to significantly reduce downtime and improve readiness by enabling on-demand production of parts where and when they are needed,” NCMS reported. Fonon’s BTS concept aligns with this vision by introducing a closed-loop, deployable solution for the military, transforming surplus or damaged materials into fully functional components.

TechConnect OELS brought together leaders from the Department of Defense, federal agencies, industry, and academia to accelerate advanced technologies that address the military’s most pressing energy, logistics, and sustainment challenges. By presenting at this event, Fonon Technologies positioned its BTS platform among other cutting-edge innovations aimed at improving operational readiness and efficiency for the warfighter.

“We are proud to be at the forefront of this transformation,” said Bryan Lee, Vice President of Fonon Technologies. “Our Bulk-to-Shape Transformation Technology represents a practical and scalable path forward for defense logistics turning waste into readiness.”

Fonon Technologies also showcased its DefenseTech laser cleaning systems at the event, underscoring the company’s broader commitment to supporting both defense and commercial industries with advanced laser solutions.
